Even monkeys have to go to school...

Monkeys have been an integral part of the workforce in Thailand since time immemorial not just because they are paid in peanuts. These friendly little creatures can be seen in the South of the country, scrambling up the trunks of coconut trees and throwing to their masters on the ground below.

Recognizing both the intelligence and comedic value of the monkey, enterprising Thais have long-since established monkey schools throughout the kingdom for the entertainment Thais and foreign visitors alike.

A monkey show is a sure-fire way to get your kids to squeal with delight, if only for an hour. During the 30 minute presentation, the little furry primates perform human tasks like riding a tricycle, exercising, hawking trinkets, playing catch, and swimming. They also show off their original trick: picking coconuts. Plenty of monkey-on-your-shoulder audience participation and mild scatological humour that kids and, admit it, adults love. After the show, feed the performers bananas - of course - and make the most of the final photos.
